Space Welcome to our home! We have worked hard to make it a beautiful, peaceful and bright space and we hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do. The house is located on the Brixton Road but is set back from the road by a large front garden which is planted with roses and lavender. Depending on when you visit, you may be lucky enough to see them in bloom! Although the house is on a busy main road, the whole house is double glazed and so you should find it an oasis of calm in an otherwise busy neighbourhood. Our beautiful home is a traditional four floor Georgian townhouse with all the mod cons you'll need for a comfortable stay. You enter the house though the front door and straight into a high ceilinged hallway which retains the original tiles. Our kitchen and dining room are immediately on the left. The kitchen is fully equipped to enable you to do a spot of home cooking with ingredients you have picked up from the local farmers markets (either at Oval or Brixton) or Borough market should you decide to have a break from London's nightlife. In the kitchen you'll find a kettle, toaster, oven, dishwasher and a washing machine is in the upstairs bathroom in case you need to put a wash on. There is a small downstairs loo just by the back door which takes you out to our large west facing garden. The garden is in the sun from about 11 am so it is perfect for enjoying lunch or perhaps a glass of wine or a cool beer before you head out for the evening. If you visit with young children, they will enjoy the little wooden play house. Our living room is on the first floor. It is a bright and comfortable room which is kitted out with a projector, surround sound and a woodburning stove - perfect for a relaxed evening in. The large master bedroom is on the next floor up. Although this room is at the front of the house it has double and secondary glazing meaning that you will benefit from a quiet nights sleep. It has a king size bed and opens onto a huge bathroom with 'his and her' sinks, a bath and a shower. We tend to use this bathroom as our main bathroom and you can close the double doors between the main bedroom and bathroom if you prefer. The washing machine is located in this bathroom; hidden away in a cupboard. All of our bedrooms come with freshly pressed, super soft luxurious white linen for a really comfortable night's sleep. On the top floor of the house there are two bedrooms and a small further bathroom. Please note that this bathroom is fine for having baths but the water pressure is not powerful enough to provide a good shower - much better to use the one downstairs if a shower is what you are after! We provide fluffy white towels for our guests as well as essential toiletries like shampoo and shower gel, and a hairdryer so you don't need to worry about bringing them with you! The top bedroom at the back of the house has a single bed and the one at the front of the house has a daybed which can be used as a single bed or opened out into a double bed. Please note that the room at the top front of the house is the noisiest room of the house despite the double glazing. Therefore, it is probably not the best room for the lightest sleepers! Access You are welcome to use the whole house and garden except one small room which we use to store our belongings. Interaction My friends at Hostmaker are looking after my home while I am away. You can be in the centre of town within moments (depending on where you want to be, 15 or 20 minutes!) but there is plenty to keep you occupied closer to home. Brixton has a huge selection of bars, restaurants, shops, cafes and music venues. It's an area famous for its multicultural and trendy atmosphere with loads of pop ups and independent cafes and eateries. All of this within a short walk from the house. However, if you would prefer to stay closer to home there is an award winning pub about 100 metres from the house which serves a huge array of craft ales and good food and and also a fantastic coffee shop housed in a bike shop serving Square Mile coffee and delicious cakes. There are also a great number of parks and green spaces should you need some time out from the hubbub of city life. Transit There is a bus stop just 5 metres from the house, buses from which will take you directly to London Bridge, Waterloo, Oxford Street, Marble Arch, Holborn and many more central locations. If you prefer to use the underground you will be spoilt for choice with three underground stations within walking distance: Brixton for the Victoria line is 10 minutes walk, which will take you directly to Buckingham Palace, the shopping on Oxford street, and to King's Cross station in just 15 minutes. Stockwell for the Victoria and Northern lines is a 10 minute walk which will take you to the cosmopolitain buzz of Leicester Square and also to edgy East London in 15 minutes each. As an idea of how long it will take you to get to other landmarks: London Eye: 15 minutes Tate Britain: 10 minutes Hyde Park: 20 minutes Tower of London: 25 minutes Notting Hill: 20 minutes South Kensington & the Museums: 15 minutes Other things to note: - Please note the flat is on the ground floor and there is no elevator in the property.
