Abbotsway is very private, with its own secluded and fully-enclosed courtyard and a pretty garden with sturdy wooden furniture and a barbecue. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Wi-Fi, wood burner and its own games room. Historic harbour town of Kirkcudbright 9 miles, bustling market town of Castle Douglas 12 miles.
Abbotsway is a traditional stone-built cottage at the head of a wooded valley on Orroland Estate which rolls from the hills all the way down to the shore. Housing a loch, wildflower meadow, sculptured gardens, towering woodlands and unspoilt grassy fields; Orroland has all the best of its surrounding beauty in one place. During a stay here, it will feel like you are only sharing the views with the local wildlife and most of the time, you are.
The first thing you'll notice is the space. With roomy accommodation in two separate wings the house is ideal for families with children or for two couples sharing. Abbotsway comfortably houses 5 guests in a double, single and twin room. There is a shower room and a bathroom, one in each wing.

Summary: The cottage was so nice - clean and tastefully furnished, spacious and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen & nice welcome goodies of tea, coffee, milk & a tasty cake! Hand wash, washing up liquid, foil, clingfilm, shampoo & body wash all provided too! The dog welcome basket was brilliant, with bowls, towels, treats, first aid kit, tick removers, poo bags & dog tags for their stay! The dogs enjoyed exploring the enclosed courtyard & soaking up the sun. The gardens & fields surrounding the cottage gave us wonderful views of red squirrel, hares and deer, plus the many garden birds on the feeders daily. Great walks around the estate and surrounding area straight from the door. The gardens & beach both lovely to walk to/around. We caught seabass, mackerel, pollock & wrasse from the shore and saw seals and porpoise too. Galloway Forest is an hour away with many interesting places to visit. Lots of Red Kite to spot but the wildlife highlights for us was seeing golden eagles & pine martins! A special thanks to the gardener, who gave us some great wildlife spotting tips! All in all, a fantastic holiday in a stunning place! We will definitely return :)
